This year, the men’s basketball team is welcoming two new players who are excited to make an immediate impact. Neither Derrek Tartt nor Ryan Romich are what you would consider to be regular newcomers.
Tartt is an incoming junior guard who is at Le Moyne after playing for SUNY Albany. Following graduation from Groton-Dunstable High School in Mass., Romich played for a year at the Vermont Academy.
Both credit their previous experience at their former schools as a tremendous asset going forward for this season. Each feel as though they can step in right away and have an immediate impact. According to them, this team is very close to being at a league winning level.
As far as to why each chose Le Moyne, they gave a lot of credit to Dolphin’s head coach Steve Evans. Both gave him much praise and are very excited to be able to play for him this coming season.
Evans said of Tartt, “He’s a set-up wing that can create and get to th
e basket.
“[Romich is] able to add depth to the front line and provide an immediate impact,” he added.
On a roster of only 12, every player matters and the Dolphins are looking to be competitive in the always tough Northeast-10 conference. Both Tartt and Romich will be looked at to fill their roles and be an integral part of the team’s success.
