The C-Store is too hot! Hot! Hot!

Now that we’re finally having some good weather, Le Moyne has been easing up on the heat throughout Grewen and Reilly.

Nearly every room has a decent temperature except for the C-Store. The smallest room in the building has almost no ventilation whatsoever. It’s always hot, crowded and sticky in there.

For a place that is consistently bustling with the rush of students between classes, it would help if it didn’t feel like an oven turned up to 450 degrees.

Unfortunately, the windows do not open and the employees there have resorted to using a small fan that merely circulates the hot air rather than creating an icier alternative. The fan also stirs up dust. I do not think that anyone enjoys hot air and dust being pushed into their face, or sweating when they’re not at the gym.

It’s unfair for the rest of the building to have nice, cool air with open windows while  the C-Store does not. If there cannot be an air conditioner or a vent installed in the C-Store, then at least something as simple as a window should work.

I know that sometimes, especially on a nice day, I can barely stand being in the C-Store for two minutes. I can only imagine how the employees must feel having to stay in that heat for hours on end. Can they at least get a functioning window? What is the purpose of having a window if you cannot open it up and catch a nice breeze? That’s a simple amenity that people shouldn’t need to ask for. It should be a given — especially in such a claustrophobic area!

I think that if I were working in the C-Store, I would just get a table, the cash register and a chair and just camp out in the freezer. All people would have to do is come to the freezer and hand me their swipes or cash through the shelves.

The C-Store is not always extremely hot, but on the days when it is, I wouldn’t blame a C-Store employee for making people pay through the freezer.
